No, I think it can be better to use layers instead, with effects that you totally control.

I'm sure you can do something nice with the 3D effect but I don't know it very well...

looks really nice, but the shadow of the "a" is on the wrong side. We can look at the top of the block the A is on, but the shadow suggests the bottom, darker, side of the "a" is visible.

I think there should be a shadow though, but maybe smaller, and surely the light on top of the "a" should be bigger.

But not too much because the "a" hasn't got many volumes anyway.
I should also diminish the white line on bottom of the block, I don't know why it appears here ^^
The shadow should be made new too.

Thanks for your critics, now that I think about that I only see it and it's bad ! :D

And yes, only 1 layer for the silver letter "a" with multiple effects.

Better than 'alpha Candy (1)' in my opinion. The lines on the top of the square need to change direction as to present 3D form better.

Other than that these really suit the name well, they have a very candy esque look. Nice n stripy!

Ah I think I know what's wrong now I think you need to change angle on the stripes when they go above that line
